Are you looking for a hearty weeknight dinner that won’t take too long to prepare? Look no further! Skillet Tex-Mex pasta is the perfect dish for busy weeknights, as it can be made with ingredients commonly found in your pantry.

This delicious and flavorful dish is simple to make and combines classic Tex-Mex flavors with a subtle Italian twist. Whether you feed a family of four or just yourself, this meal is a winner!

Ingredients for This Mexican Pasta Skillet

Traditional ingredients needed to make Skillet Tex Mex Pasta are ground beef, bow tie pasta, salsa, cream of chicken soup, corn, black beans, and a shredded Mexican Cheese Blend or Cheddar Cheese.

Ingredients you’ll need Tex Mex Pasta

  • Bow Tie Pasta
  • Salsa
  • Cream of Chicken Soup
  • Corn
  • Black Beans
  • Shredded Mexican Cheese Blend

Don’t have salsa? No problem, use a can of diced tomatoes.

Don’t like using cans of cream soup in your recipes?  Me either!  I usually opt for homemade cream sauce. It doesn’t take me more than five minutes to get a small saucepan and melt two tablespoons of butter over medium-high heat.  I then add flour, chicken broth, cumin, and garlic powder for the cream sauce.

I also sprinkle chili powder, taco seasoning, or Goya Adobe All Purpose Seasoning into the cream sauce for this recipe.  It’s really whatever I pull out of the cupboard first.  Don’t be afraid to experiment with what you have on hand.  And if you are watching your sodium, please go easy on the Adobe!

If you happen to have cilantro and onion in the fridge, then go ahead and add some for extra flavor.

Can you use another type of pasta?

This dinner recipe is hard to screw up. This recipe calls for Bow-Tie Pasta, also known as Farfalle, but feel free to use any pasta that works for you and your family.

Rotini, Campanelle, Cavatappi, Fusilli, and Penne would all be great options.

Five Reasons Why This Is a Great Dinner Option

Cooking dinner after a long day at work can be tiring, so this Tex-Mex Skillet Pasta is the perfect solution for busy women. Here are five reasons why:

  • 1. Quick and Easy: All you need to do is brown the meat, boil the pasta, and combine everything in one pot. The Tex-Mex Skillet Pasta requires minimal prep and is ready to eat in under 30 minutes.
  • 2. Versatile: You can customize this dish to your liking. Change the ingredients to use items in your pantry, or spice it up with extra chili powder and seasoning.
  • 3. Filling: A little goes a long way! The protein from the ground beef, carbs from the pasta, and fiber from the beans create a nutritious and filling meal.
  • 4. Economical: This dish is budget-friendly since most ingredients are easy to find, and you can buy them on sale.
  • 5. Flavorful: The combination of flavors creates a tantalizing dish that will please everyone.

As a bonus, leftovers also taste great the following day.

How to Make Tex-Mex Skillet Pasta

Making this Skillet Tex-Mex Pasta is easy as 1, 2, 3:

  1. Brown the ground beef, breaking it into smaller pieces as it cooks.  If you are adding chopped onion you can add them to the ground beef. Drain the grease.
  2. Boil the pasta according for six or seven minutes or until pasta is al dente. Immediately drain the water. Remember that your pasta will continue to cook when you add it to the skillet. When it comes together, the pasta is tender, not mushy.
  3. Add the cooked ground beef, cream sauce, salsa, beans, corn, and cheese to a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook for 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cheese is melted and everything is heated.

It’s perfectly served in a bowl or on a plate, whatever works best for you.
